Check Your Account | Change Your PIN | Renew Materials | Place a Hold | Cancel a Hold | Search Tips

Check Your Account:
1. Go to the Ottawa Library catalog.
2. Select the User Services button.
3. Click on User Status Inquiry. You will be prompted for your User ID, (the 14 digit barcode number on your library card) & your 4 digit PIN number. If you aren’t sure what your PIN is, come to the library and we will be glad to look it up for you. This information can’t be given over the phone.
4. Then click on the Display User Information button.
5. You will be taken to a screen where you can see what you have checked out and when it is due, what holds have been placed, whether you have any bills, or any messages from the Library.

Change Your PIN:
1. Once you have logged into User Services, select User PIN Change.
2. You will be presented with a screen that allows you to change your PIN from the one issued when you received your library card to one of your choosing. Any word, number or combination up to 10 digits can be selected.
3. Enter your User ID (the 14 digit barcode number on your library card) and current PIN number. If you aren’t sure what your PIN is, come to the library and we will be glad to look it up for you. This information can’t be given over the phone.
4. Next enter your new PIN in the two boxes provided.
5. Click on the PIN change button.

Renew Materials:
1. Once you have logged into User Services, select Renew Materials.
2. You will be prompted for your User ID (the 14 digit barcode number on your library card) and PIN.
3. Click on List Charged Items, then you will see a screen of items that are eligible for renewal.
4. You can Renew All or Renew Selected Items using checkboxes.
5. Some items, like videos, are not renewable. Items with a hold on them are not renewable. Most items can be renewed only once.
6. If you have any difficulty, remember you can call the library (242-3080) and we can renew materials that are eligible for renewal for you.

Place A Hold:
1. Look up the item you would like to place on hold in the catalog in Full Record View.
2. Click on the Request button.
3. Click on Place Enhanced Hold.
4. You will be prompted for User ID (the 14 digit barcode number on your library card) and PIN.
5. Click on the Place Hold button.
6. A screen tells you a hold has been placed on the item.
7. The library will notify you when the item is available.

Cancel A Hold:
1. Log into User Services.
2. Go to User Status Inquiry.
3. Under User Information, go to Holds.
4. Click in the box by the item you wish to cancel the hold on.
5. Click the Cancel Selected Holds button.
6. A screen tells you the hold has been canceled on the item

Remember to Click on Exit after checking your account on a public or shared computer.
