Locating Books
The Webcat is a listing of books and other materials owned by the Ottawa Library. If we do not own the item you are looking for, we can try to borrow it for you from another library. If you would like to see if any libraries in Kansas own the item, you can check the Kansas Library Catalog.

Non-fiction books are located by the Dewey Decimal classification number in the upper left corner. Non-fiction books are shelved in call number order.

Fiction books have no call number, and are filed alphabetically by the author's last name.

Subject Headings are in all CAPITAL LETTERS.

Locating Periodical Articles
Magazines that the Ottawa Library subscribes to are listed here and in a notebook downstairs. Back issues can be requested at the Circulation Desk and may be checked out for one week.

Online Databases
There are several databases available to search for periodical articles through the Internet: Infotrac, First Search, and SIRS Discoverer for children. Ask a librarian for a Kansas Library Card for remote access.
